What is ACE?
ACE is a fellowship of Christian families who routinely support and encourage each other in their conviction to homeschool their children by providing supplementary educational opportunities to their preschool through high school students.
When does ACE meet?
ACE meets on Fridays at a location in Stuarts Draft, Virginia, from September through May with the usual exception of the first Fridays of the month and from the week of Thanksgiving through early January. Classes are held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
How does ACE work?
ACE is structured as a true cooperative educational organization in which all parents work together with a Christian spirit for the good of their children. Each family is required to fulfill three units of service, which may consist of teaching, assisting, cleaning, set-up team, or other coordinator positions. Several times each year, parents have additional responsibilities such as recess monitor, emergency sub, and transitional team duties. Students also have occasional lunch clean up responsibilities.
Because this is a parent-taught co-op, classes vary from year to year. The ACE Board approves all positions of leadership, including teachers for all classes. These leaders and teachers are professing Christians who have agreed to lead and manage their respective ACE activities according to conservative Christian principles and to support and reinforce the complete ACE Statement of Faith. ACE also adheres to child safety policies including background checks for all members who have regular contact with students. The good of the co-op is the principal responsibility and primary concern of the Board.
There are annual family application and liability coverage fees, and most classes have a fee designed to cover the costs a class requires.
What classes will ACE offer in upcoming school years?
ACE Co-op is a co-op in the truest sense of the word. Parents submit class ideas that they are willing and able to teach for the upcoming school year. The Board then selects from those class offerings and builds a schedule for the year. Thus, classes vary from year to year depending upon parent needs/student interests/teacher availability, and it is not possible to guarantee a particular class for a particular age group. The ACE Board endeavors to provide a balanced schedule each year that offers a range of academic and supplemental classes on a variety of topics. Creating a schedule that is balanced and attractive is one of the main duties of the ACE Board.
How does my family become a part of ACE?
